This flexibility in being able to change from a sofa to a bed in no time is especially slick for those who do not want to invest in an extra bed for occasional guests or for those who simply do not have room for extra furniture. They come in up to queen sizes and work just fine for daily use as a bed too.

Are you looking for something for your guest bedroom? A sofa that can convert into a bed when company's over? Would you like a beautiful piece of furniture for your small space? Maybe your door way is not wide enough to get that expensive sofa through? If you've asked yourself any of those questions, a futon is for you.

While this obviously comes in handy when moving a futon to another room, it is also nice when moving it longer distances. Moving regular furniture is very awkward and requires a lot of hands as well as shipping space. The ease in which futons can be broken down means they require a lot less shipping space and fewer hands to move them. This can save on both shipping expense and needless aggravation!

With futons, everything can be removed quickly and easily. The futon cover can simply be thrown in the wash or replaced. They add a classy feel to homes with their unique stylish looks that will make them an integral part of any home décor. Even better, consumers need not stick to the look in which the futon first came. You can choose to buy various futon covers in brilliant designs and vibrant colors. The ability to periodically buy different covers and change the entire look of the futon furniture is a great advantage over any normal sofa.

Derived from the original Japanese futon, the "shikibuton", which was a thin cotton filled mattress which was placed on a Tatami Mat, on the floor. Living quarters were very small, and families were large, so these mattresses were rolled up daily, and unrolled and slept on at night. Americans found the futon convenient and affordable, but this more original type of futon mattress was not very comfortable, yet they were still very popular among college students, apartment residents and first-time homeowners because they were very economical, space savers, and multipurpose, quickly and easily converting from a couch to a bed, and bed to couch. The frames were very crude, yet effective frames which are still made today, similar to the 3 Way Lounger, frames, and were mostly made of pine and fir. They were also easy to assemble and disassemble making them easy to move from place to place, perhaps in the back of a VW Van. Many people now refer to the futon mattress, as a futon, or the futon frame as a futon, or both the futon mattress and futon frame as a futon.

If you're shopping for a futon, here are some things to think about if you see a black metal futon frame in a mass merchant or big box store. Consider the fact that most solid wood futon frames carry a warranty anywhere from a year to a lifetime warranty. Black metal futon frames have a 90 day warranty. It says something about how much the manufacturer stands behind the product. Black metal frames are made overseas. Expect to wait for a part if something breaks or if you're past that 90 day warranty, expect to pay for all replacement parts and associated costs to get your frame up and running again. Consider too that parts may also no longer be available should something break. Metal bars allow mattresses to slide into and through the gaps between each bar. This puts lumps in your mattress and can make the futon quite uncomfortable when compared to flat wooden slats on wood frames.
