Stamina – no real changes, not plate wearers should end up with more stam
Spirit – Healer only, likely to be changed over to hit through a talent, may even change how often regen ticks
Intellect – Will grant spellpower
Haste - Same for casters, different for melee (faster resource recovery)
Parry/Dodge/Block - Dodge is a chance to avoid 100% of the damage from one attack, Parry is a chance to avoid 50% of the damage from two attacks, and Block is a chance to avoid 30% of the damage from one attack.
Mastery - This is a new stat that will allow players to become better at whatever makes their chosen talent tree cool or unique. It’s directly tied to talents, so what you gain from improving this stat is entirely dependent upon your class and the talent specialization you choose. We’ll talk more about specific Mastery benefits in the future.
Armor - Pretty much the same… not as big of a gap
Resilience - This will only affect damage done by players and critical damage done by players. It will not impact crit chance, mana drains, or other such effects.
Strength, Agility, Hit Rating, Expertise, and Critical Strike Rating – No real change, damage done by having too low of a hit rating may be altered

What’s Gone from Items (not completely from game)?
Attack Power – str and agility will convert to this
Spell Power – gone except from caster weapons
Armor Penetration – Will still exist through talents/abilities
Shield Block Value – Gone since Block = 30% block may be increased through talents

What Stat’s Knocked Up Ghostcrawler and Fled to the hills? AKA. Gone for good.
MP5 – Spirit takes over
Defense - Defense is being removed from the game entirely. Tanking classes should expect to become uncrittable versus creatures just by shifting into Defensive Stance, Frost Presence, Bear Form, or by using Righteous Fury.
Spell Ranks - Spell ranks will cease to exist. All spells will have one rank and will scale appropriately with level. The levels at which you can learn certain spells are being changed in order to fill in some of the gaps, and we will be introducing some new spells to learn along the way as well.
Weapon Skill - Gone, even I forgot about this.

From PunkerB on iTunes:

The most fun podcast around, I love the drunken rants and wish I could be there with Seven and Brian drinking and ranting every week. Such awesome funtastic humor.

From Cereal Killar on iTunes:

Bottom line, really friggin funny. Its like being in a room hanging with your buddies just shooting the shit about Warcraft, beer, and ball busting. Don’t listen to the tools QQ’n about college humor or gay jokes, it’s good back and forth chat like you’d have with friends. Don’t expect spread sheet numbers or microscopic analysis of gear, but you do get comments on current content crammed in between the laughs.

Kharne – EU Dunemaul on iTunes UK:

I love this cast! From the always awesome music that brings you into and out of the show, to the review of the current beer of the week, this podcast keeps you interested and listening for something new. The hosts are intelligent (unlike some casters I listen to) and have a dry wit which helps the World of Warcraft content move alone nicely and not at all like just “reading the news”.

I have to say – the legendary episode where Seven has to take a spoon of nastyness brought the show down to a new ‘high brow’ level of entertainment that only the strong of stomach can really appreciate. I think I pulled a muscle laughing to be quite honest.

To quote your podcast, “let myself introduce myself!” I hope I remembered that quote right because in true raid warning fashion I am working diligently on my own drunken enrage timer.

Actually I wont bore you with introduce myself, instead I thought that I would assign to you a task of immense importance! This is the official Raid Warning Beer Scavenger Hunt:

- Stone Ruination IPA*

- Avery Maharaja

- Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA*

- Breckenridge 471 IPA (Small Batch)*

- Hercules Double IPA

- Boulder Hazed & Infused

- Oskar Blues Old Chub

I recommend completing this if you like beer, beer is awesome. There is no prize because I am poor.

Your podcast is awesome, and so Is your taste in beer. Most of these beers are from Colorado, because, Suprise!, thats where I live. Hope you enjoy, and thanks for the great podcast.

Until we get closer to the patch, the notes you see are going to be a work in progress largely based on whenever the team decides to cut a build.

One change we have made in the interim is to make Chains of Ice apply Frost Fever baseline, and keep the current (live) Glyph of Chains of Ice as is (causing damage). If you don't change your PvP spec at all (and assuming you have a pretty cookie-cutter PvP spec), then you should see extra damage from the Strength in Endless Winter and a Scourge Strike that hits harder on undiseased targets.

If the Mind Freeze from Endless Winter isn't important to you, then you might have a few more points to spend in deep Unholy or early Blood.

We're going to continue to iterate until we're ready for 3.3.3 to go live, so there is no guarantee that these will be the final changes we go with. As always, your feedback (particularly feedback that is constructive, succinct, and using the kinds of words adults use) is appreciated.

World of Warcraft PTR Patch 3.3.3

The latest test realm patch notes can always be found at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/test-realm-patchnotes.html

The latest patch notes can always be found at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/

General

Copied Test Realm characters are not copied with their achievement history in order to better facilitate the character copy process.

PvP

The amount of Honor awarded for an Honorable Kill has been increased by 100% for characters of all levels. Given that all avenues in the game which award players with Honor do so with a calculated conversion from a specific amount of Honorable Kills, this change means that all Honor players can obtain through various means will be increased by 100%. To offset against this in two key areas, experience gains in Battlegrounds have been reduced by 50% and Honor awarded for completing each Wintergrasp weekly quest has been reduced by 50%. When pairing the Honor rewarded from Honorable Kills being increased by 100% with the 50% Honor reduction from Wintergrasp weekly quests, and 50% experience-gain reduction from completing objectives in Battlegrounds, players will notice no change in the net amount of Honor or experience awarded in either case.

Battlegrounds

The Random Battleground system has been added! Similar to the Random Dungeon system in the Dungeon Finder, players can now queue for a random Battleground.

The Random Battleground option can be found in the Battleground tab of the PvP frame and is only available for level 80 characters at this time.

If this option is selected, players may not queue for specific Battlegrounds and a random Battleground simultaneously.

Similar to the Random Dungeon system, players will not know for which Battleground they are chosen when selected from the queue until they zone into the Battleground.

The Random Battleground option will only allow a group size of 5 players to queue together.

Bonus rewards will be offered for choosing the Random Battleground option.[ul]

Winning a Battleground using the Random Battleground option for the first time in a day will award players with 30 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency and 25 Arena points.

Winning additional Battlegrounds using the Random Battleground option after the first random win will award players with 15 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.

Losing a Battleground using the Random Battleground option will award players with 5 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.

Daily Battleground quests have been removed in place of the Random Battleground option.

Battlegrounds will no longer award Marks of Honor.

Players with existing Marks of Honor can still turn them in to their respective faction's quest givers, including individual marks for those who may have more marks for one Battleground than another.

Items which previously required Marks of Honor will have their costs adjusted to remove these requirements.

Whenever a Battleground has the holiday bonus active, it will now be referred to as "Call to Arms" in the Battleground tab and Calendar. In addition, Call to Arms Battleground Honor rewards have been changed.

Choosing a specific Battleground with the Call to Arms bonus active will yield the exact same rewards as when choosing the Random Battleground option.

Winning a Call to Arms Battleground for the first time in a day will award players with 30 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency and 25 Arena points.

Additional Call to Arms Battleground victories after the first win for a player that day will award them with 15 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.

Losing a Call to Arms Battleground will award players with 5 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.

When using the Random Battleground option, players will not receive additional rewards if the Battleground chosen is under the Call to Arms bonuses. In addition, the rewards for the first victory of the day cannot be earned more than once, regardless of whether or not it is obtained from the Random Battleground system or the Call to Arms Battleground.

Wintergrasp

The internal balance system now only changes when a faction achieves 2 consecutive defenses after an initial capture of Wintergrasp, up from 1. You can find additional details here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=23329393344

Players with existing Marks of Honor can still turn them in to their respective faction’s quest givers, including individual marks for those who may have more marks for one Battleground than another.

Dungeons & Raids

Culling of Stratholme

Players may now skip the initial introduction dialog to this dungeon once they have completed it at least once.

As I've said before, the goal isn't merely to get you to use Starfire and Wrath. The goal is to have a rotation that is more than just 12121212 or even 111222111222. RNG is something we actually want. The best players should be the ones who can pay attention and react to situations, not the ones who can mash their keys the fastest (or download the most recent macros).

The biggest problems with Eclipse are:

1) It's too much of a damage increase. Here we see the problem with overbudgeted talents. The RNG wouldn't be an issue if the magnitude of those random rolls wasn't so huge.

2) It suffers too much from movement. Losing an Eclipse proc when you have to run is a problem, particularly given point 1. Now we have no problem with classes taking a dps hit when they have to move and we don't even mind of some specs pay a heavier penalty than others. But it's a problem when the delta between dps when moving and dps when not moving is so great.

Q u o t e:
First of all, you know I love you guys. A good tank/healer combo is awesome.

/hug

Q u o t e:
However, there have been a few... minor issues lately, and I thought I'd clear the air.

First of all, please give me a couple seconds when we zone in to buff everyone and get ready before you pull every mob in the place. It's kind of a pain to get there and find the tank is in the middle of 15 mobs and half dead before I've even cleared the instance gate.

I can be a pretty generous guy so I usually wait to see the healer move and know they aren't still just zoning in. The initial trash pulls tend to be very weak and since I can probably last through them with no healing, I like to get moving. Yes, I like beating that 15 minute timer.

Q u o t e:
Next, please don't run two rooms ahead of me and pull. You may have "improved vroom vroom" that makes you run 10x faster than everyone else, but I don't, and I can't heal you through walls or when you've run up two flights of stairs and I'm still chugging my way up. It's called LoS, and it's a b*tch.

I know this can be a bit daunting at first, but believe me when I say that I am a decked out uber heroic farming tanking machine. I time things out pretty well and often have my cooldowns available so as long as you keep running I won't be anywhere close to dead when you are in range.

Q u o t e:
Also, if I manage to find the time to type "mana" through all your chain pulling, it isn't an advertisement for how healing works. It means I'd like you to stop a sec and let me drink something. I'm leveling, my gear isn't the best, and (especially if you're having trouble holding aggro) sometimes I run low.

At what point do you usually ask for this? I tend to monitor my healer's mana (and ignore the dps), but if you still have 50% mana or more I feel we can keep moving. I also feel that drinking to fill up mana right before a boss makes much more sense than the 1 trash pack before it that we should kill in ~15 seconds.

Q u o t e:
On that note, if you don't know how or are unable to hold aggro, are in DPS gear/spec, have no points in damage mitigation whatsoever, and/or are just queuing as a Tank because the line moves faster, please don't. See, the Tank and I have kind of a special relationship, and you pretending to be a Tank just causes bad feelings. So either go back to your DPS queues or learn how to tank.

In case I haven't made it clear by now, I rock. I love my healers and they love me.

Q u o t e:
Thanks for listening!

/hug

Q u o t e:
However, there have been a few… minor issues lately, and I thought I’d clear the air.

First of all, please give me a couple seconds when we zone in to buff everyone and get ready before you pull every mob in the place. It’s kind of a pain to get there and find the tank is in the middle of 15 mobs and half dead before I’ve even cleared the instance gate.

I can be a pretty generous guy so I usually wait to see the healer move and know they aren’t still just zoning in. The initial trash pulls tend to be very weak and since I can probably last through them with no healing, I like to get moving. Yes, I like beating that 15 minute timer.

Q u o t e:
Next, please don’t run two rooms ahead of me and pull. You may have "improved vroom vroom" that makes you run 10x faster than everyone else, but I don’t, and I can’t heal you through walls or when you’ve run up two flights of stairs and I’m still chugging my way up. It’s called LoS, and it’s a b*tch.

I know this can be a bit daunting at first, but believe me when I say that I am a decked out uber heroic farming tanking machine. I time things out pretty well and often have my cooldowns available so as long as you keep running I won’t be anywhere close to dead when you are in range.

Q u o t e:
Also, if I manage to find the time to type "mana" through all your chain pulling, it isn’t an advertisement for how healing works. It means I’d like you to stop a sec and let me drink something. I’m leveling, my gear isn’t the best, and (especially if you’re having trouble holding aggro) sometimes I run low.

At what point do you usually ask for this? I tend to monitor my healer’s mana (and ignore the dps), but if you still have 50% mana or more I feel we can keep moving. I also feel that drinking to fill up mana right before a boss makes much more sense than the 1 trash pack before it that we should kill in ~15 seconds.

Q u o t e:
On that note, if you don’t know how or are unable to hold aggro, are in DPS gear/spec, have no points in damage mitigation whatsoever, and/or are just queuing as a Tank because the line moves faster, please don’t. See, the Tank and I have kind of a special relationship, and you pretending to be a Tank just causes bad feelings. So either go back to your DPS queues or learn how to tank.

In case I haven’t made it clear by now, I rock. I love my healers and they love me.

Q u o t e:
Thanks for listening!
I get it in between 7-10 hours of wow a week and I would like to stay competitive.
This is a rough situation. However, we've made many adjustments, particularly with PvP, that will allow you to stay relatively competitive with those that participate in PvP more frequently. Of course, it wouldn't be fair if you simply attained all of the same items and gear as those players who have been devoting more time to the pursuit of those items. In time, you'll attain all of the items you desire through your own casual play style. You shouldn't be stuck perpetually behind, so long as you work consistently towards your goal.

I'm not entirely sure what the goal of this thread was, but World of Warcraft is a game with a variety of play styles that are there for players to play and experience as they see fit. Just because you started out as a healer (or whatever else) doesn't mean you need to stay that way forever. It is hard to really argue that doing the same exact thing for 5+ years won't be taxing in some way.

I know some people who love healing and in the situations where they end up DPSing (like when dropping down to two healers in a raid or something) they complain a bit that they don't have as much impact on the raid. There are also the healer types that have nothing but healing specs since they want the responsibility of taking care of the raid and don't want to put that in someone else's hands (these people also tend to get especially irritated when these other healers are causing problems that they wouldn't have done themselves). Then some others may end up being "forced" to heal a fair amount to help out the group and any good guild I've been with tries to prevent the situation where that one person ends up carrying the load week in and week out with no end in sight.

What I'm getting at here is just to remind players that if you aren't in the mood to do something anymore, try out something else. Whether that's Battlegrounds or a hunter or changing to that other spec you haven't had a chance to try out yet, give it a try and see how it goes. You may find a new style to play for the next few years or you may end up being good buddies again with your original play style.

Q. Why are you now allowing character transfers from PvE realms to PvP realms?

A. Because World of Warcraft has matured significantly since the inception of Paid Character Transfers, we don’t feel that PvE-to-PvP transfers will have the negative impact on the game that we initially wanted to avoid when we started the service in 2006.
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=9679894520&sid=1&pageNo=1

This change will provide more mobility and freedom for players to experience the game with friends or play in the type of environment they’re looking for.

I think some of you are misinterpreting a couple of the Cataclysm goals.

We're not "overhauling the combat system." We are changing some lame stats to be more interesting (like Intellect) and removing some that just added complexity to the game without adding depth (like armor pen, which is pretty much just damage modified by how much physical damage you do). We are adding more health across the board, but that's to add a few seconds in between the time you take damage and the time you die, which we think will improve both PvE and PvP.

We're also not trying to "dumb down stats." Complexity and depth are two different things. Depth is really important to us. Without it, the game starts to get predictable and stale. Complexity can be a route to depth, but it doesn't have to be. The game of go has very simple rules but almost limitless depth (you can use chess if you aren't familiar with go). The game tic-tac-toe has very simple rules and almost no depth. It's hard to come up with examples that lots of players will get for games with too much complexity and not enough depth, mostly because those games either never become widely popular or don't endure. Ever heard the phrase "quick to learn but a lifetime to master?" That's depth.

Yes, we are messing with talent trees, but a simple skimming of the forums should suggest why. There are too many talents that have little depth but are mandatory (most of the talents right about the 51-pointer). There are possibly interesting talents that you can't afford because of the passive dps / healing / tanking increasers. There are also modifications we need to make just because you'll have 5 more talent points. There are also talents that we have modified along the course of LK in the name of closer spec balance that are now out of budget. We're not deleting any talent trees and starting over. We're trying to make them more interesting and more fun.
